The 5 Step Lay Review-How You Can Spot A Vulnerable Horse Racing Favourite

Posted on April 11th, 2011 in Gambling | No Comments »

Do you want to know about “The 5 Step Lay Review“? Would you be prepared to find out more regarding the credibility of Phil Smith & Stu Thomas? Or perhaps is The 5 Step Lay Scam or authentic thing?

As the popularity of the betting exchanges grows, so increasing numbers of people want to profit from horse racing by laying horses to lose. But what’s the best strategy? About the face from it, one might think that merely betting that the outsider will lose is really a magic formula to make easy money. The truth is, the best horse to bet against is the race favourite.

Betting that the outsider at 20/1 will forfeit is going to be fine to start with, and doubtless you will soon develop a winning run of profits. However, sooner rather than later that 33/1 shot with ‘absolutely no chance’ can come home in front, and you’ll well have laid him at a cost of 52.00 (for instance) on Betfair. BOOM! There goes all your hard-earned winnings, and more!

Generally a horse would be the favourite because it has got the weight from the market’s money behind it, which forces the cost down. Simple economics. You will see a place however, in which the horse’s prices are lacking when compared with it’s actual possibility of winning. Beyond this ‘true’ price is where the layers will quickly earn profits.

And then we proceed with this strategy, and that we proceed to lay every favourite, right? Wrong.

Horse racing favourites are often priced too low. This is how bookmakers have made their profit for generations. But they are not priced lacking each time – sometimes a favourite is easily the most likely horse to win a race for very good reason.

As we took the simplified approach of laying every favourite, before long betting on the exchanges we’d remain round the break even point, because the exchange finance industry is a very efficient barometer of probability. However, after paying commission on our winnings, we’d watch our account slowly draining away like water down a plug-hole. Bad.

Just how will we know which favourites are true favourites, and which are weak or vulnerable?

One method would be to analyse the positive aspects of the horse’s form. It won’t surprise you to learn that more favourites win when they have fewer question marks against them. This isn’t rocket science, but making the effort to separate strong contenders from weak favourites provides you with the ‘edge’ to make that all-important profit.

Below is really a listing of form criteria you are able to apply to the marketplace leader in a given race:

1. Horse and Class: Should have shown the ability or obvious possibility to seriously compete in the class of today’s race.

2. Horse and Track: Must have proven ability on either today’s track or one concentrating on the same characteristics.

3. Horse and Recent Form: Analysis of general form over the last couple weeks.

4. Horse and Race Distance: Should have shown the ability or obvious possibility to run competitively over today’s distance.

5. Horse and Draw: Highlight any obvious disadvantage if applicable.

6. Horse and Going: Should have shown a clear ability to handle today’s ground.

7. Trainer and Track: Trainer must have at least a 10% strike rate on today’s track.

8. Trainer and Recent Record: Trainer must have had a minimum of two placed a treadmill winning horse within the last 14 days.

9. Jockey and Track: Jockey should have a minimum of a 10% strike rate on today’s track.
I hope this article about “The 5 Step Lay” has assisted you so far. If not, do not hesitate to continue reading…

Rating a favourite as ‘weak’ or otherwise is entirely subjective, but you may determine (for instance) that a horse with 3 or even more question marks or negatives over their form would be considered a horse worth opposing.

Of course the question of price will come to the equation. A horse with several boxes left to ‘tick’ in the list above can be a favourite inside a weak race at 5/1. This may be a fair price, and you may not need to get involved in laying him to get rid of.

However, when a 2yo filly steps hoof to the track the very first time, and it is offered at odds-on due to the fact she is ridden by Frankie Dettori with respect to the Godolphin training empire, then you can want to consider taking her on.

To sum up: race favourites in many cases are a profitable source of potential Lay Bets, as they are often ‘over-bet’ and offered at prices lacking when compared with their actual possibility of winning. Take the time to analyse key aspects of the horse’s form and judge whether they are a ‘strong’ or ‘weak’ favourite. Should you decide they’re susceptible to defeat and also the prices are short enough, then you’ve identified a great lay bet.

How You Can Get To The Money Stages Of The Poker Room Lucky Dollar

Posted on January 28th, 2011 in Gambling | No Comments »

The Lucky Dollar is really a multi-table poker tournament run by Poker Room. It takes place at 4:00pm EST every day except Saturday, when it’s at 3:00pm. Saturday may be the big one with $2500 put into the prize money giving an overall total prize fund of $4500 if all of the 200 places are filled – which they usually are.

To win money in the Lucky Dollar, there’s one playing style that you need to adopt. Throw out all your preconceived ideas, forget everything you’ve learned up till now and play TIGHT-AGGRESSIVE poker.

What’s that? well, tight means you only play the BIG hands, and aggressive implies that whenever you DO land a large hand, without a doubt it very strongly.
Forget calling with Jack, 8 or Queen 6. You just do not do it. Let the rest of them call and raise each other with these types of hand while you sit back and wait for a biggie. It may be a little boring not being as associated with the game as you are probably used to but it’s what you need to do to get to the money stages. Little else works CONSISTENTLY like playing tight-aggressive poker at this tournament.

ONLY play the following hands, particularly in the early stages:
AA, KK, QQ, JJ, 10,10, AK, AQ, AJ, A10, KQ, KJ. With any other pairs, call to determine the flop but check/fold if you do not hit triples. With suited connectors QJ, J10, 10 9, 9 8 call to see the flop and check/fold if you don’t hit a straight or flush draw.

Don’t try and slow play big hands unless you land the absolute nuts, too often the river will beat a large hand at Poker Room and there is always someone who is going to be calling a big raise with 9 4 and then land a full house.

When you don’t realize a large hand, your work is to force your opponents from the pot so bet big. Generally their aim is going to be just to stay in the tournament, especiallly as you become near the money so a big bet will scare them off. If however you get re-raised be VERY sure you have the best hand or be prepared to fold.

That’s all there is to it, follow these simple guidelines and you will reach the money stages of Lucky Dollar more often than not.

Online Poker Websites Are Safe For Gambling & Betting

Posted on September 30th, 2010 in Gambling | No Comments »

Frequently, whenever anybody thinks about the idea of making a purchase online or transmitting their credit card information via the internet, they may tend to wonder about the safety aspect surrounding these types of internet transactions. Sports Handicapping The same kind of worry rings true for those individuals that are interested in entertaining themselves by utilizing online poker websites as a gaming establishment alternative. They may tend to ask themselves whether or not this is a safe thing to be doing or if they may be jeopardizing things such as their bank account and overall financial safety by doing so. Another way in which a prospective online poker player may question safety and legitimacy aspects of an online poker website is with regard to collusion among some of its online poker players. However, it may help you to rest a bit easier after reading the following text and learning about the different ways in which safety concerns are being addressed with regard to gaming websites such as online poker websites.

The best way for an individual to utilize the internet in order to exchange money on the web is to use something referred to by some individuals and organizations as a “digital wallet”. This type of safeguarding mechanism works in a way in which an established, forthright company, which we will refer to as the payment systems company for the remainder of this article, is the medium between the online poker player and the online poker website. The online poker player will submit his or her credit card information via the internet to the payment systems company and the payment systems company will then pay the online poker website. It is important to note the fact that the online poker player’s financial information will never be seen by the online poker website and will only be seen by the established and valid payment systems company.

Once the poker player wins, the online poker website will pay the online poker player through the payment systems company and the poker player will then be able to gain access to the money by way of an electronic funds transfer from the payment systems company to the poker player’s bank account that is provided or via a check. If the online poker player loses in the various online poker games, then the money will be transmitted from the online poker player’s credit card to the online poker website company by the payment systems company. This type of system ensures that the poker player’s financial information is not being unnecessarily distributed to various companies and websites. It will allow the poker player to have peace of mind, knowing that his or her financial information is safe from outside prying eyes. Also, oftentimes these payment systems companies will have free protection established for the individual utilizing their services should their information get into the wrong hands. In the slim chance that this might occur, the payment systems company would refund all money to the individual harmed by the financial hijacking. This also allows the individual online poker player to feel more relaxed when dealing with an online poker website. Free Sports Picks

Another fear that individuals have with regard to playing poker games via an online poker website is that collusion may be present among other players. By definition, collusion is a secret agreement between two or more persons to commit a fraudulent act. This type of thing may occur if two poker players utilizing the same online poker website are working together to defraud other players out of their winnings. They may try to do this by working together and communicating by telephone or maybe even by using a network and playing poker on the same website in the same house. There is a specific way in which online poker websites address this issue.

The way in which online poker websites address this issue is by having a system where they can monitor all hands that are being played each time by individual players throughout the online poker games. Should the online poker website investigate and feel that there is some sort of collusion going on, they will take matters into their own hands to resolve the situation. It is good to know that most online poker players are aware of the fact that online poker websites monitor all activity occurring within each game and this in and of itself may help to prevent any potential thoughts of collusion on the part of the online poker players. It is also beneficial to know that online poker websites are doing their part to prevent any possible collusion among online poker players as it hurts their business greatly should people be colluding to defraud other players and the company itself out of any potential winnings.

Prospective online poker players may also be fearful of playing online poker if they feel that other individuals will be able to hack into the system and see other players hands throughout the games and then base their wagers and folds on what they can see is being held by other poker playing individuals at their virtual table. The online poker websites have also addressed these types of issues by engaging various brands of software that use encryption methods to prevent any type of hacking on the part of poker players. Again, by protecting the large influx of online poker players that utilize their website to engage in online poker games, the online poker website is protecting itself as well. If their company is seen as having a less than desirable website in which to play poker, they will lose a lot of potential online poker players which will ultimately put them out of business in a quick manner.

These are just a few safeguards that are taken by online poker websites to ensure the safe playing arena for its online poker players. With all of the technology out there these days, you can rest assured that these online poker websites are doing all that they can to make sure that your online poker playing experience is a safe and gratifying one. By Marc Tendo-Arbitrage Spy Review

No sport is complete without betting. There is something incredibly raw and amazing about betting that sets our pulses racing. WSOP Gabling: The World Series Of Poker

Posted on September 25th, 2010 in Gambling | No Comments »

The world series of poker is the ultimate challenge out there for both internet and real poker rooms players. The truth is that if you enter the WSOP you stand a chance to win lots and lots of money. But that is not the only reason. Just the fact that you made it there is a huge realization both for you as a player and for you as a person. If you want to really be a part of the poker world then WSOP is the place to start. With all the media attention you will be getting and with all the famous people that are going to be around you, you will get a chance to real show your skills and to improve them greatly since you will be surrounded only by the best of the best. Being in the heart of all these events and agitation is a quite exciting and fun thing to do in your poker career.Gambling Tips

Nowadays, because of the satellite tournaments that are played in order to gain entrance to the WSOP, you can easily enter the world series of poker with a limited bankroll. The entrance fee for some of these tournaments can be as low as $40 and with that kind of money you can get to play in the end for over $2.000.000. (the tax required to enter the WSOP can be paid from the money won in the qualifying satellite tournament, so you will really only invest $40).

Still, when looking at it mathematically we realize that even entering the WSOP is a very lucky situation and that a many people lose a lot of money trying to enter it and even when they do they just lose instantly their $10.000 bankroll.Poker Discussions

The WSOP is opened for every person over 21 years old and it can be won even by a skilled player no one has heard about that comes from a satellite tournament. This happened in 2003 when such a player won about $2,500,000 investing just the $ 40 entrance fee to the satellite tournament.

Young talents arise every year and ore and more players take part in the WSOP as years pass. You have a chance of winning even this great tournament if you have studied enough, if you learn every day new things and practice every day your strategies and approaches and if you manage to keep an overall good attitude so you can play your best hands and strategies.

There is a significant difference between tournament poker and cash game poker. When you lose all of your chips in a cash game, you can purchase more. In a tournament when your stack is gone, you are over in that tournament. So the secret is to maintain your chip total at a good level and try to make the final table where the prize money is the highest. When the blinds are low, the player can take some flyers with suited connectors and lower pairs. When the blinds get really big, the better hands may not come and you need to be more aggressive or you will be blinded out of the tournament. It is easier said than done to wait for really concrete starting hands in tournament play. Aggression is rewarded and the art of the bluff is a big part of the way the game is played. Calling significant raises in tournaments must be done only when you have a solid hand or have many outs that can give you a winning hand. Gambling early on in the tournament on marginal hands is a sure way to get eliminated from the tournament. Of course if the cards are running over you, then you can play almost any two cards in Holdem. For new players the budget tournaments that are held daily on virtually all the sites are a superb place to learn to play tournaments.Poker Betting

Sports Betting: Bet On Both Sides & Win

Posted on September 25th, 2010 in Gambling | No Comments »

Betting on sports is perhaps as old as the various games themselves. Millions of people have made huge money out of betting on sports. Possibly no game is left virgin of betting. All games have bookies and wages attached to them. Alike is the case with the countries across the globe. Betting is becoming a universal phenomenon nowadays. The difference however lies in the fact that some countries have accepted betting and so have legalized it while others still consider it illicit. For instance betting is taken to be legal nearly in entire Europe whereas Nevada is the only place in United States of America where wagering is deemed to be lawful. But the geographical scenario does not bring much variation in the terms and conditions or the rules and style of betting. The betting policies for a particular game for example cricket remain approximately the same around the world. Sports Gambling Forums

But what differs with the place or country is the sport and the amount of bets placed on it. Like people in Asian countries are leaders in betting on cricket. Cricket is the favorite sport in the Asian subcontinent. But in Europe and America games like horse racing, basketball, hockey, soccer and football etc. receive topmost priority. Thus that sport is wagered the most, which is relished, by maximum number of people.

Australia is one of the best places in the world to enjoy betting. This is because betting is legal in Australia and there are ample of sports that are cherished by the Aussies. Australian Football and Rugby are the two eminent names in this category. Lots of good information and even betting guidelines or tips about these games and many others like tennis are available on the Internet due to the legality of sports betting in Australia. Sports Betting Forums

Ireland is the land that gives birth to the most of the English sports action. Irish football and Hurling are unique English sports. Rugby, cricket, golf and tennis are other English sports that invite lot many bookmakers and so bets. The English Premier League or one can say the English Soccer involves tremendous wagering in Europe. Darts are also famous among the English. Many people love betting on the not so common game of Darts. But this isn’t all. Punters never leave The National Leagues, the National and International Cups, the Motor Sports like Formula F1 Racing, the IRL or the Indy Racing League and the NASCAR i.e. the National Association of Speedy Cars and Rednecks, involves million dollar wages or even more every year.

Human beings have always made good business through animals. Along with the horse racing the racing of animals like camels, pigs, ponies and dogs invite great amount of betting in Europe as well as on the land of America.

While betting on any game what should be followed is your knowledge of the game and what your intuition or common sense says. A bettor should be pretty clear and confident over the option of his bet. If an individual is making a bet for the first time, don’t bet big. It can lead to unexpected snags. Remember, it takes time to learn and develop betting skills. Sports Gambling Discussions

Better Betting – A Guide To Understanding Odds

Posted on September 22nd, 2010 in Gambling | No Comments »

By Dermot Bolger-The 5 Step Lay REVIEW

So many newcomers to the betting environment are too eager to bet at first sight and don’t consider the true probability of outcomes of the event they are betting on.

The one major mistake newbies to betting make, is considering that every price offered to punters by bookmakers is a fair price. This simply isn’t the case. If you understand basic probability and apply it to a sporting event, and then contrast the probability of each outcome with the bookmaker’s odds, you will be surprised at the disparity between the two. Sometimes you will be staggered!

For example (and this is a basic example for illustrative purposes), consider betting on the outcome of a tennis match where both players are evenly matched. There are ostensibly only two outcomes, Player A or Player B to win. Therefore the probability of each winning is 2.0 (or evens). However you will never see a bookmaker offer these odds because they need to make a profit. But even taking the profit into account, you will commonly find odds, which are nowhere near the true probability (something like 1.82 for Player A and 1.9 for Player B for example – much lower odds than evens).

However if you shop around and take advantage of the huge numbers of online bookmakers, you can probably find odds for the same event, (something like 1.97 for Player A and 1.98 for Player B) elsewhere. So don’t take the first odds you see in front of you, use an odds comparison website to find the best price.

Probability is the Key to Betting

Now, extend this basic rule of probability to other more complicated sporting events. For example, a player to score the first goal in a soccer match. At 11.0 (or 10/1), the price might seem good odds at first glance. I mean, you can win £100 just by wagering £10!

Do Your Research

But is it really good value? How many players can theoretically score (normally 22), but a better measure, is how do the selected players rank in terms of likelihood to score? Where does your selection stand in that list? How many times has this player scored on average in his previous career in this position? Is he playing home or away? Is his team on form allowing him to get into scoring positions more often? Is he on form? What is the team selection for the game? Are the best players available or injured? Is it attacking or defensive? Who needs to win the game more? Those are just for starters – there are many more factors to consider.

So let’s say our player scores one goal every five games on average – it sounds like a good bet? But he is away from home, against better opposition and his team are not on form and neither is he. Also, remember he has to score the first goal. Say for example the average amount of goals scored in any game in this league is 3, then theoretically, he only has a 33% (or 1 in 3) chance of being the first scorer, even if he does score! So really, you could hazard an educated guess that his real price probability stands at around 20-1.

Find Out Where you can Grab the Best Odds

The point is, when you analyse closely all the factors in establishing probability, it becomes clearer whether the odds are fair or not. You will find that some bookmakers consistently offer better odds on certain sports than others. For example Stan James and Bet365 regularly offer great value on horse racing, better than their larger competitors.

So pause before you place your bet, and think it through – how many logical outcomes are there, what other factors could influence the event. So now you understand how to approach a bet and check the odds, here are some tips to get you started in the right direction.

* Use an odds calculator if you are analysing complicated bets or hedging your bets (i.e. backing and laying – see the article on laying for more information). There is an excellent menu of tools at this odds comparison website.
* If you place a lot of bets, consider keeping a record of your bets on a spreadsheet, to see where your profits and losses reside. This will help you spot flaws in your betting. If you are betting and speed is vital, maybe for horse racing or in-play, have a pen and pad handy to record your bets so you can check on them without taking your eyes off your pc.
* Make use of the wealth of information about sports available on the internet to educate yourself on whatever sport you gamble on. There are some incredibly useful websites with valuable databases packed with sports statistics such as this football stats website.
* Keep tabs on the latest talk on the punters forums around the net, such as this sports betting forum. Take the time to share your insights with other punters and ultimately everyone will reap the rewards from swapping ideas and information.
* Do not reveal to bookmakers that you have any betting systems or strategies. You may soon find your account suspended and there is nothing you can do about it – bookmakers don’t like winners!
* Use decimal odds instead of fractional odds, which are often the default setting. It’s much easier to calculate and compare prices with decimal odds.

Gain an Inside Edge on the Bookie

Undoubtedly the bookmaker holds the upper hand in the betting world, but often it’s because punters do not adhere to the simple logic of betting and are not aware of the tools available to them. Think carefully about the probability of the event you are betting on and whether it is really good value or not. Betting is a tough game to beat the bookmaker but there are opportunities out there if you pick and choose them wisely.
